His steadfast commitment to the principle of "Strictly No ‘Shelf Queens’" is truly admirable and serves as an inspiration to many within the RC hobby community. While countless builders create outstanding rigs that never see a speck of dirt, Marc and his rigs—Mum and H20—are notable exceptions. Every build he completes is put through its paces on the trails and at various events, embodying the true spirit of hands-on RC adventure.
Thorsten Illhardt is a Boom Racing builder with a strong passion for realistic, detail-driven scale RC and a clear preference for Camel Trophy-inspired Land Rovers. He got into the hobby in late 2023, and since then his collection has grown to four scalers, including three BRX02s and a TRX4-based build. What drew him deeper into Boom Racing was the kit quality, the freedom to create his own interpretation, and the way the platform encourages true scale realism. After starting his career as a technician, he moved into a different professional path, and the hobby now gives him a way to keep building practical skills while learning new ones. Through Boom Racing, he has found both a creative outlet and a community that values craftsmanship, realism, and outdoor adventure.
